GOUROCK footballer Amy Muir has been named as a nominee in the Scottish Women’s Premier League Goal of the Season contest.

The Glasgow City defender’s 60th minute strike against Hearts at Oriam on April 2 is one of 14 goals shortlisted.

The goal contributed to a 2-0 win over the Edinburgh side, in what was their first league loss since early February.

Muir’s side eventually went on to win SWPL in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season last month, snatching the title from Celtic with a last-minute goal against Rangers.

The 23-year-old faces competition from teammate Lauren Davidson, Hearts’ Aimee Anderson, Lucy Ashworth-Clifford of Celtic, and Rangers forward Lizzie Arnot.

Also in contention for the title are Rachel Donaldson (Partick Thistle), Natasha Flint (Celtic), Rebecca Galbraith (Spartans), Amy Gallacher (Celtic), Kirsty MacLean (Rangers), Alana Marshall (Spartans), Louise Mason (Spartans) and Rachel McLauchlan (Rangers).

The 2022/23 SWPL Goal of the Season will be selected by a panel of judges.
