A FABULOUS fundraising ladies day in aid of Ardgowan Hospice raised almost £10,000 for the vital charity.

Glitz and glamour came to Greenock Town Hall as hundreds of women joined together for an afternoon of fizz, food and fun to raise cash for the much-loved good cause.

After browsing the hospice fundraising stalls with a glass of bubbly, the ladies were seated as host and radio presenter Gina McKie got things underway.

Hospice advanced nurse practitioners Monica Kennan and Gemma McCahill spoke to the gathered guests about the importance of their support and how the money raised helped the worthy cause continue to provide specialist care at their Greenock facility.

The ladies were then treated to a two-course lunch courtesy of ICE Catering before being entertained by tribute act ‘Could It Be Take That’, who got everyone on their feet with two 45-minute sets of many Take That hits and other boyband classics.

Each guest received a goody bag on their chair as they arrived and there were plenty of games, prizes and chances to dance on offer at the event.

An Ardgowan Hospice spokesperson said: “We would like to thank our two sponsors for the day - VA Business Solutions and A&I Geotechnical. Without them we could not have raised a fantastic £9,000 profit.

“We would also like to thank ICE Catering, the Greenock Town Hall staff, Gina McKie, our volunteers, all our prize and goody bag donors and for everyone who attended on the day and gave generously to Ardgowan Hospice.

“It was a fantastic day from start to finish and we are so grateful to our generous supporters for helping us.

“Tickets are on sale now for our next event 'Back to the 90s', taking place in the Clyde Suite in Greenock on the September bank holiday weekend."
