TWO Labour politicians have signed a pressure group's petition to nationalise Clydeport.

The Campaign to save Inchgreen Dry Dock has lodged the petition with the Scottish Parliament in a bid to bring the ports and harbours on the River Clyde into public ownership.

Secretary Robert Buirds says that an MSP plus a local councillor have both signed up, but he is disappointed that other elected members have failed to follow suit.

Mr Buirds said: "I would like to thank Councillor Colin Jackson and MSP Katy Clark for supporting our petition.

"Unfortunately the rest of our local politicians have refused to sign."

A total of 1,044 individuals have signed the petition so far.
