THE skyline along the waterfront of Greenock is changing as work is carried out to decommission one of the cranes at Ocean Terminal.

Crews are dismantling one of the three giant blue cranes which are a familiar landmark looking over the town.

The work is part of what has been billed as the biggest ever investment in Greenock Ocean Terminal.

It was announced last year that two new cranes were being bought for almost £20m to boost productivity.

As part of the revamp, the current crane number three is being decommissioned.

Greenock Telegraph:

Peel Ports said that it would be replaced in the short term with a 'multi-docker' one that specialises in the handling of forest products.

It will take 18 months to complete the installation of the two new cranes.

When the new ones are erected, the two others currently in place at the terminal will also be decommissioned.
