THE Greenock bus company owed by the billionaire Easdale brothers has been shortlisted for four prestigious awards.

McGill’s is nominated in several categories at the National Transport Awards 2023.

They are up for UK Bus Operator of the Year and Exemplary Contribution to Net Zero, as well as two nominations in the Best Bus Service category.

The first relates to the new electric bus SWITCH service, which encourages people to leave their cars at home and make use of low-carbon public transport.

More than £55m has been invested in McGill’s electric fleet since 2021.

The company’s FlixBus partnership and Glasgow-Dundee-Stirling-Perth route is also nominated in the Best Bus Service category.

Chief executive Ralph Roberts said: “Being shortlisted for not one, but four UK National Transport Awards is a remarkable achievement for McGill's Buses.

McGill’s co-owner and chairman James Easdale said the operator remains committed to service exellence and environmental sustainability.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on October 5.
