AN inspirational super slimmer who now encourages more than 100 people to lose weight every week has struck gold with a national award.

Joe Glancy shed five stones himself before becoming Slimming World's first male consultant in the area back in 2019 and running his own club in Port Glasgow.

He has now been awarded gold status by the organisation because of his success in supporting members to reach their dream weight.

Greenock Telegraph:

The dad said: “I am delighted to have received this award.

"I absolutely love my job.

"I’m passionate about helping people to transform their lives by losing weight.

"Seeing them succeed is reward enough, but being given this recognition for the whole group really is the icing on the cake.

"This award belongs to the Port Glasgow group’s 130 members.

"They’re the ones who make our group the success that it is with their fabulous commitment, the wonderful support they give each other every week and, above all, their impressive weight loss while following Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan.

"They make the group a fun, buzzy place to be and I can safely say I always look forward to going to work.

"I truly believe I have the best job in the world."

The group's vital statistics prove that Joe has definitely got the midas touch.

Of the 122 members in his group, 377 stones were shed in a year.

Greenock Telegraph:

The accolade is given to Slimming World Consultants who consistently have 100 or more members in their group over several months, and who provide 'exceptional service'.

Joe's success means Port Glasgow is home to some of the best slimming support in the UK.

But the modest man says he is only as successful as the people who come along to the club.

He said: "Obesity is at record levels everywhere and with 66 per cent of adults in Inverclyde being affected, many people here are suffering a range of weight-related health problems from diabetes to heart problems and feelings of low self-worth that impact on their working and personal lives every day.

"It’s never been more important that people who struggle with their weight get support to make the changes needed to lead healthier lives – both for themselves and their children, too.”

*The Port Glasgow group meets every Saturday at 7.30am, 9.30am and 10.30am at St Mary’s Episcopal Church. Either pop along or give Joe a call on 07944340609.
