A CALMAC ferry has arrived in Greenock as part of her scheduled annual maintenance.

MV Lochnevis serves routes between Mallaig and the Small Isles of Muck, Eigg, Rum and Canna.

Launched in 2000, she replaced the 20-year-old MV Lochmor - cutting the time taken for a round of the four islands from ten hours to seven hours.

She also sails between Mallaig and the village of Armadale on Skye in the winter months.

The vessel's large stern vehicle ramp allows her to berth further away from slipways in shallow waters and was specifically designed to allow the Lochnevis to serve each of the Small Isle ports.

CalMac has removed the ferry from service until September 26, with MV Loch Bhrusda and MV Larven serving the Small Isles in the meantime.
