MANY gardeners simply love to grow cacti and succulents even as house plants as one of the great factors is that they survive on a bit of neglect as far as water is concerned.

Alas, these popular plants are becoming more difficult to source.

However, members of Gourock Horticultural Society who hold fortnightly talks at Cardwell Garden Centre have invited expert cacti grower Ewan Brown to come along to their next talk on Tuesday September 26 to let members know how to raise their own cacti and succulents from seed.

The meeting commences at the usual time of 2pm and any readers interested in attending will be welcome to join the group. The meeting will last approximately one hour.

There will be a series of meetings each fortnight from now until the first Tuesday in December when members meet for their Christmas lunch.

Do come along and meet fellow gardeners and learn more about the 'green art'. It can be fun.
