A SERIES of film screenings celebrating the work of a Greenock screenwriter is set to begin at a Glasgow cinema this week.
The Glasgow Film Theatre’s Alan Sharp: From Greenock to Hollywood season kicks off on Thursday with The Hired Hand.
Starring Peter Fonda - who also directed the movie - and Warren Oates, the western was originally released in 1971.

The film will be introduced by season curator David Manderson, who recently released a book which takes a deep dive into Sharp’s work and journey to Hollywood.
Last month, David told the Tele that he hopes his book can help put the local writer's creations ‘back in the spotlight’.
The film will be shown at 5:50pm and tickets can be booked at glasgowfilm.org.
