EXCLUSIVE footage has shown an injured man walking through the centre of Greenock soaked in blood following an attack.

The topless bearded individual, wearing a pair of bloodstained white shorts, can be seen walking along West Blackhall Street in a video shared with the Telegraph.

Police have confirmed they are investigating a serious assault.

The man’s left arm and right hand also appear to be drenched in blood in the alarming CCTV clip, which was captured on Wednesday evening.

In scenes that the Telegraph has chosen not to share, a pair of passers-by can be seen walking in front of the bleeding man, unaware of him being behind them.

Greenock Telegraph:

Another individual is seen sitting on the pavement and observing the man as he passes, before quickly looking away.

Police have today confirmed that they are looking into the incident, with detectives spotted on the street today retracing the injured man’s steps.

Officers were called to the scene at West Blackhall Street yesterday evening at around 7pm and it is understood a 26-year-old man was later conveyed to hospital.

An area of the town near where the street meets Dalrymple Street and Grey Place was cordoned off for a period of time while initial investigations were carried out.

Blood spatters could still be seen on the pavement this morning and an area near the town’s ‘Greenock’ sign appeared to have been hosed down.

One local, who did not wish to be named, told the Telegraph they had seen blood near the sign in the early hours of this morning.

They said: “There was blood all along the street, you can still see the droplets on the pavement.

“It was there this morning, but it was washed away earlier on.

“It looks serious whatever has happened, I hope the guy’s ok.”
