INVERCLYDE was abuzz yesterday as the massive Disney Dream cruise ship made her first ever visit to the area. 

The 18-deck ship brought a total of 4,000 people to Inverclyde, with large crowds gathering along the Esplanade in the evening to see her off. 

Members of our Facebook camera club were on hand to take some spectacular snaps of the vessel's visit, so we've rounded up 10 of the best pictures for you to enjoy.

Tommy Bamford took this picture of the illuminated ship as she arrived in the early hours of Wednesday. 

Tommy, along with fellow camera club members Alan Maxwell and Linda Kerr, were able to get up close and personal with the almost 1,115ft long vessel once she berthed at Greenock's cruise ship terminal and captured took fantastic photos.

Michael Deveney took things a step further and managed to get a close-in shot of the detailing on the rear of the ship, which features a large stainless steel and fibreglass figure of Mickey Mouse.

Janet Boyle got a great snap of the vessel from further along the front of Greenock, showing it berthed at the town's new £19.2m terminal.

Camera club members David Kane, Roy Elliott and Clare Wylie snapped the ship as she left Inverclyde, with David Burrows sending in a picture of the large crowd that gathered on the Esplanade to see her off.

Disney Dream's visit follows the opening of the new £20m cruise ship visitor centre last month - a project that is expected to provide a £26m boost to the Scottish economy with more than 70 jobs having been created.

Jim McSporran, Clydeport Port Director at Peel Ports said: “Thousands of passengers and crew from around the world have already been enjoying the facilities, and we’re excited to add Disney Dream guests to this list."
