A DRUG driver who was caught nearly EIGHT TIMES the limit for cocaine in Greenock has been spared a prison sentence - after a sheriff described his level of intoxication as 'relatively high'.
The man reckoned he was 'fit' to drive through the town at 10am despite having a large quantity of the class A narcotic in his bloodstream, a court hearing was told.

A MACHETE attack accused man charged with targeting the home of a Greenock couple is set to face a jury trial next week - despite the sheriff court being told that he is housebound and 'can't move'.
The accused - who suffered a serious leg injury after being charged with eight alleged indictment offences - is said to have masked his face and smashed the windows of a property with a large blade.

The 44-year-old man was put on the electronic tag last month for stealing tools from B&Q in Port Glasgow and for a threatening or abusive behaviour offence.

Brian McLeod sustained a puncture wound to his chest during the brawl on West Stewart Street and retaliated by booting the man who'd knifed him.

A GREENOCK man was battered and beaten by up to ten baton-wielding police officers who had just smashed up his car, the sheriff court has heard.
Scott Donnelly told a jury that he was struck around 20 times and left severely injured by a posse of PCs whom he says targeted him and his BMW in the town.
