GREENOCK Town Hall is racing up the music venue charts after securing the UK's best Taylor Swift tribute act for a big gig.

Greenock Telegraph:

Singer Katie Ellis is all set to get the 'Swifties' warmed up before the real Taylor hits Scotland on tour next year.

It's the latest coup for operators Inverclyde Leisure, who have had big hits already this year with the Cavern Beatles, comedian Paul Smith and a sell out Northern Soul night.

They have lined up a busy countdown to Christmas as well, with Men of Motown, Peatloaf and Abbaganza all coming to town.

There's also room for local talent with top DJ Bruce Glenny booked in for a hometown charity gig.

Jim Lyon of IL, who has taken over running the gigs, said: "To be honest I think we could sell out the Taylor Swift tribute act twice over. The demand for that has been massive.

"We have some great nights planned in all our venues. All three of them, Greenock Town Hall, Port Glasgow and Gourock are great venues.

"Sometimes we are bringing in event promoters but we are also putting on our own nights as well and they are proving so popular."

Bosses at Inverclyde Leisure, which recently relaunched its catering offering with local businessman John Paul Flynn, have formed a Showcase Events brand as they promote their three venues as places for acts to play.

Greenock Telegraph:

Kayos Youth Theatre will perform Little Shop of Horrors in Port Town Hall on October 20, 21 and 21.

Greenock Telegraph:

Prominence Academy of Performing Arts also recently had a sell-out run of Matilda.
