A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a Port Glasgow man convicted of threatening or abusive behaviour after he missed a court sentencing hearing.

John Kelly was due to appear to face punishment for shouting, swearing and uttering threats of violence at his home address in Moidart Road on April 20.

Kelly, 55, also behaved in an aggressive manner during the incident, while he tensed his arms and pulled away from police.

He had faced a second charge of resisting, obstructing or hindering two male police constables by tensing his arms and violently pulling away to prevent handcuffs from being applied.

Kelly was not present at the latest calling of the case at Greenock Sheriff Court and his solicitor, Gerry Keenan, said he had no explanation for his absence.

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan granted a failure to appear warrant.
