AN MSP is urging residents to report incidents they witness on the railways to British Transport Police using a new app.
Jamie Greene, MSP for the West Scotland region, said BTP’s services are ‘especially important’ to places like Inverclyde, with busy trains taking high numbers of commuters to Glasgow.
Services in Inverclyde have also been affected by anti-social behaviour.
The Greenock-born MSP is encouraging train users to download an app called Railway Guardian – which allows passengers to report incidents remotely.
He said: “The British Transport Police do vital work on our train services and in our train stations, keeping staff and passengers safe.
“The Rail Guardian app is one way the Transport Police are working to make it easier for passengers to report incidents and receive advice, meaning officers can be alerted to incidents faster and more often.
“I encourage anyone who uses public transport to download it.
“The easier it is to report an incident the better, and the Transport Police can respond to incidents more effectively, keeping our trains and stations safe.”
Android and iPhone users can download Railway Guardian from their app store.
