A FULL road closure will be in place on the A78 next weekend to allow for essential carriageway maintenance.

Amey is undertaking works at Wemyss Bay and north of Largs from Friday, November 24 as part of a wider package of improvements for the road.

It is estimated that the maintenance will benefit around 11,700 vehicles using the route daily by ensuring the continued safety and reliability of the road, as well as reducing the need to for more extensive work in the future.

A signed diversion will be in place while the road is closed at the Ardgowan Road in Wemyss Bay from 8pm on November 24 until 6am on Monday, November 27.

Local access to and from Ardgowan Road will be maintained.

There will be an two additional overnight closures between 8pm on Monday, November 27 and 6am on Tuesday, November 28, and from 8pm on Tuesday, November 28 until 6am on Wednesday, November 29.

The overnight closures will allow work to take place at Knock Castle, between Largs and Skelmorlie.
