AN inspiring project fusing art and faith has created a stunning exhibition in Gourock involving people from different generations and backgrounds.

Inner Voices: Art and Spirituality is a collaboration between Crow Cottage Arts and St John's Church.

Pupils from Clydeview Academy produced a stunning stained acrylic window and members of The Inverclyde Shed attended stained glass workshops.

Greenock Telegraph:

Reverend Teri Peterson, minister of St John's, says the initiative developed from a brainstorming session about how to 'empower people to open their hearts, spirits, and minds'.

She said: "We feel strongly that creativity is an important way of connecting to and expressing our spirituality.

"We now have this incredible exhibition by local artists, from professionals to workshop attendees to high school pupils, exploring and communicating something about how their own spiritual lives are fed and lived out.

"We hope the beauty and stories of Inner Visions will open hearts, inspire creativity and be an invitation into a community of vision and hope."

Greenock Telegraph:

Alec said Crow Cottage Arts was delighted to be part of the ground-breaking project.

He said: "As part of the initiative we have worked with several local community groups and schools, including Inverclyde Shed, Clydeview Academy and an independent group of individuals who took part in glass-making workshops.

"In addition the Crow Cottage Arts Artists group will be contributing stunning new works including paintings, glass and jewellery.

"The exhibition will showcase the wealth of creative talent that Inverclyde has to offer, and is a unique opportunity that will allow creatives the chance to talk about how their creative practice is influenced by their own individual interpretation of spirituality."

Bruce Newlands, secretary/treasurer of Inverclyde Shed said members from all walks of live and experience took part in the glass workshops.

He said: "The group thoroughly enjoyed taking park in these workshops, it has sparked deep thought, creativity and connection between those taking part.

"Everyone involved in the group is excited to display their work at the forthcoming exhibition."

There will be an artist discussion panel at the church on Saturday at 6pm and a Spirituality Cafe on Thursday November 30 at 7.30pm and the exhibition runs until Saturday December 1.

All are welcome.

The project was funded by Inverclyde Community Fund.
