INCHGREEN Marine Park Ltd (IMPL) is a Joint Venture Private Company set up by Clydeport/Peel Ports and the Inverclyde Council in March 2022.

The private company has been set up for business development of Inchgreen using £10.6m of taxpayers money, Clyde Mission £1.3m and £9.3m from the City Deal.

The IMPL does not include Inchgreen Dry Dock and Peel Ports continue their stranglehold of our national asset.

Companies that were put forward by an IMPL business plan to receive the taxpayer grant have pulled out.

IMPL as a private company and not covered by the FOI legislation failed to respond to our questions a number of months ago.

We were asking what benefits the Inverclyde community would receive from their investment of £10.6m if all the companies had pulled out and who would bring work and jobs?

We have now put in a FOI to Inverclyde Council asking the same questions but are alarmed that Peel Ports are using IMPL to advance their stranglehold on Inchgreen aided and abetted by the council.

There is very little scrutiny on this joint venture and they only report back to the council on a limited basis and no board minutes are made available.

What other IMPL plans will be nodded through by the council when we see Peel Ports extending their grip on Inverclyde property, spending our money and weakening our democracy?
