NEW ground has been broken on a multi-million-pound project to build a whisky distillery near Inverkip.
Work has officially started on Ardgowan Distillery’s single malt distillery, with concrete being poured into its foundations over the course of the last week.
Bosses behind the ambitious project say the building will now begin to take shape and have launched a new spirit to mark the monumental step forward.
Ardgowan's master whisky maker Max McFarlane has produced a sherry matured single malt, called Inverdarach Groundbreaker Edition, which has been bottled at a cask strength of 56.4 percent.
The limited 414-bottle release will be exclusively available from the distillery’s specialist UK stockists from Wednesday.
