INVERCLYDE rail passengers are being reminded to check for any changes to train times on their usual journeys from Sunday onwards as ScotRail introduces its new winter timetable.

The travel provider is adding extra trains to the Gourock to Glasgow route on Sundays, meaning there will be a train from Inverclyde to the city centre every 30 minutes.

ScotRail is also running an off-peak all day fares trial which will last until the spring.

Customers can check times on the ScotRail app, website and on social media to make sure their journeys go smoothly.

ScotRail service delivery director David Simpson says the timetable changes show the firm's commitment to providing the best possible service.

He added: "Hopefully the changes will encourage more people to choose rail travel instead of using the car.

“From the introduction of electric trains to increased frequency on key routes and enhanced service reliability, we are dedicated to making Scotland’s railway more accessible and efficient.

“There's a lot of ongoing investment and improvement taking place across our network.

"This new timetable is an important part of that."
