COOL characters from the Waterfront Ice Skating Club are set to stage another brrrrilliant Christmas show this weekend.

The talented performers will be putting on a festive extravaganza at the Waterfront Leisure Centre for hundreds of local people as their ever-popular performance returns once more.

This year’s show, Dare to Dream, tells the story of Rapunzel, the lost princess with magical hair, who is trapped in a tower and longing for adventures out in the world.

The fabulous cast’s latest ‘ice’-capade has already proved wildly popular, with almost 600 tickets being sold within the first 20 minutes of the club’s online sale.

The performers hope that their expressive ice dancing will create a magical atmosphere for those who come along this weekend.

Kayleigh Munro, who runs the skate school, told the Tele: “We’ve been doing months of rehearsals with the skaters, there are five club groups taking part which means we have 119 skaters taking part in our shows.

“We’ve been working hard to piece together the routines on and off the ice.

“It’s all been coming together really well, we’ve had a few set backs but we’ll power through and make sure things go well this weekend.

“We’ve now got five coaches on our team and they’re really great, they handle everything that comes their way.

“I do a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff now because they’re so good at the coaching.

“It’s great to have such an enthusiastic team of young coaches who are willing to work and help out.

“Our dress rehearsals last weekend went brilliantly, there’s no issues with the on-ice stuff which is terrific.

“Everyone’s ready to skate and put on a great show this weekend.”

The troupe of performers had initially planned to stage five shows this weekend, but have added a sixth due to the incredible demand.

Kayleigh said: “We were unsure on how well it would go. Given that it was Rapunzel this year, we thought it might be more of a show for little girls to watch.

“It was incredible to see tickers sell so quickly.

“The sixth show is now the only one that tickets are still available for, so it really is people’s last chance to make it along.
