KIND volunteers are serving up delicious afternoon teas in aid of cancer patients in Inverclyde.

The City Church in Greenock recently handed over £1,000 to Ardgowan Hospice from their venture.

Every week they have delicious home baking and hot drinks on the table to raise money for the charity.

Organiser Beth Campbell said: "The hospice means such a lot to so many people and we want to do whatever we can to help them.

"The local community really support our afternoon teas and we have dozens of people coming along every week."

It's just one of many events running in the busy Watt Street church, including their soup-bowl drop ins, Zumba sessions and Messy Play for kids.

The afternoon teas in aid of Ardgowan are held every Tuesday from 2-4pm, with visitors leaving a donation.

Beth added: "The hospice are our neighbours, so it is lovely to support them."

Fundraiser Chris Morton from Ardgowan was on hand for the cheque presentation.

He said: "We can't thank the City Church enough for their amazing support. They have raised an incredible amount of money for us."
