Christmas is now just around the corner with many hoping to get snow to make it all the more festive.

While this is often a rarity, the big day can become all the more special when gazing out the window come Christmas morning to see the street covered pavement to pavement in snow.

If you're hoping for a white Christmas and are interested in the most recent forecasts from the Met Office and WXCharts, look no further.

Will Greenock get snow this Christmas?

While the Met Office and WXCarts have both predicted snow across Scotland this Christmas, you may want to know what the weather predictions are looking like for Greenock.

The Met Office has held a rather conservative forecast on whether or not snow will fall on Christmas Day with the meteorological organisation previously stating that snow could fall in some western parts of the country with this being especially prevalent in many hilly or upland spots.

However, its long-range forecast warned: "At this stage, there is little sign of any widespread or severe cold and wintry weather."

WXCharts has been far more optimistic with it stating that snow of up to 2cm could fall across Northern and Western Scotland on Christmas Eve between the hours of 12am and 6am.

It also revealed that there could be snowfall in parts of the Central Belt at around 12pm on Christmas Day with this also being the case in northern parts of Scotland as well as in places like Orkney.

Despite snow being predicted in much of Scotland over the festive period, Inverclyde looks as though it will sadly miss out on a white Christmas and instead see rather rainy weather.
