GREENOCK bus firm McGill’s has continued its long-term support of a care home by providing free transport for residents attending a festive afternoon tea.

The bus operator took residents from Erskine Veterans Charity’s facility in Bishopton to their Christmas gathering at the Glynhill Hotel in Paisley.

Driver Gerry Gilmour assisted residents before and after the event on one of McGill’s new electric buses.

Company managing director Alex Hornby said: “We were thrilled to be able to provide free transport to the residents of Erskine so they could attend their Christmas tea dance.

“Erskine is a fantastic charity and facility and the McGill’s team are hugely passionate about supporting them whenever we can.

Greenock Telegraph:

“The afternoon was a great success and provided some great festive cheer in the run-up to Christmas. We’re pleased to have played a small part in making it such an enjoyable occasion.

“We have also received fantastic feedback regarding our driver on the day, Gerry, who couldn’t have been more helpful to those going to and from the Glynhill.

"Gerry typifies the best of the McGill’s team and we’re grateful to him for his efforts and contributing towards our help for residents who have done so much for society.”

Earlier this year, McGill’s promised to support military personnel across Scotland by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

As part of its commitment, the operator provides serving personnel with free transport year-round.
