A GREENOCK church with the wider community at its heart opened its doors and welcomed everyone in over the festive period.

City Church in Watt Place, led by founding Pastor Ian Campbell and his wife Beth, has a track record of reaching out to the community.

Every week they serve up home-made soup at weekly drop-ins and have afternoon teas in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

They held a winter wonderland fete in aid of Home Start Inverclyde for all the family, with Christmas gift wrapping, home baking and preloved toys and games for sale, as well as cards and crafts.

Throughout December there was also a morning service dedicated to children and a carol service with food afterwards.

In the New Year their action packed events schedule is back, with their own slimming club, City Lites, and Zumba sessions.

City Church also runs a weekly afternoon tea in aid of Ardgowan Hospice which has raised thousands of pounds over the last few years. It takes place on Tuesdays from 2-4pm.

Then on a Wednesday there is soup bowl drop-in with warm food on the table from 3-5pm. All are welcome.
