A PUBLIC hearing will be held over a controversial traffic-calming plan for the west end of Greenock.
It comes after no fewer than 30 objections were lodged about the proposal, which would see mini roundabouts built on Union Street and Newark Street, at the junctions with Wood Street, Bentinck Street and Johnston Street.
Roads bosses brought the plan forward due to concerns about speeding drivers but it has attracted opposition.
A report by council officials says: 'The maintained objections must now be considered by the council.
'Officers suggest that the most appropriate way for the council to consider these objections is at a public hearing before a special meeting of the Environment and Regeneration Committee."
The council says all objectors will get the opportunity to attend and make their points in front of the committee of councillors.
A venue will be confirmed at a later date, with the council chambers thought to be too small to accommodate everyone who may wish to attend.
