PLANS to replace Port Glasgow's replica of the famous Comet vessel continue to rumble on four years after it was condemned.

The iconic wooden landmark finally had to be dismantled and removed from its site in the centre of the town earlier this year, after being exposed to the elements unchecked for over a decade and left to rot.

The council has set up a group which is looking into the costs of what is being described as 'a full-scale representation'.

A new update to councillors on the project says group members are exploring options for the project, with advice currently being sought from a specialist materials sculptor.

Elected members will discuss the latest developments at a meeting in the new year.
