UPCOMING roadworks set to last almost two months on a key route into and out of Inverclyde have been rescheduled.

Restrictions were set to be in place on the A8 between the Woodhall and Langbank roundabouts from today, January 15, until March 8.

However, they will now start next Monday January 22 due to 'scheduling conflicts'.

A temporary 50mph speed limit will be in place for the duration of the work while essential VRS (vehicle restraint systems) are upgraded.

Construction works will be undertaken during daylight hours and 24-hour offside lane closures will also be in place throughout.

Amey, completing the work on behalf of Transport Scotland, says the scheme will benefit around 28,000 vehicles that use the route each day, by 'improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future'.

Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout the works.

Thanking road users for their 'patience and co-operation', Amey said schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
