I SEE traffic lights have again somehow gone wrong in Greenock, giving equal timing near Greenock police station to the main A8 trunk road and Virginia Street, one of the smallest streets in Inverclyde.

It's happened before. Does anyone know how this happens?

It's a further difficulty for people trying to get through the town, with the traffic already consistently congested, by design, near Campbell/Patrick Street, where the cycle lane takes up one third of the eastbound road capacity yet has little or no cycle usage.

Another third of the eastbound capacity is a virtually unused footpath on the north side of the road, while 99 per cent of transport usage (i.e. vehicles, including private cars and public transport) is shoehorned into a single eastbound lane on the road. It's the worst piece of roads design I have seen anywhere in Scotland, and a great shame on the local council who are unable to rectify it.
