PARKRUNNERS sported a whole host of colourful outfits as they pounded the Esplanade on the second anniversary of the passing of a popular race volunteer.

Greenock Telegraph:

Friends went the extra mile to remember the late Andy Cameron, who used to keep everyone's spirits up at the weekly 5k wearing his bright hi-viz uniform and waving his trademark big foam hand.

Parkrun organisers asked people to don yellow to remember the stalwart and they were more than happy to oblige by wearing his trademark colour as they completed the weekly 5k in bright winter sunshine.

Greenock Telegraph:

Andy was a very well known figure in the community and a valued member of many local organisations, including The Clydeside Singers, Parish Players and Inverclyde Leisure.

He sadly passed away in 2022, aged 76, and a memorial bench was unveiled in his honour in July that year at Gourock Outdoor Swimming Pool.

Organisers from Greenock Parkrun said: "Those who knew Andy will know that our event has never quite been the same since he put the hi-viz vest and big foam hand on for the final time.

"We asked people to wear yellow as that was what Andy was famous for wearing.

"It was a fitting tribute and the event went well."
