A GREENOCK man charged with assaulting his partner on Boxing Day is set to stand trial at the sheriff court after denying the allegation.

William Wade is accused of seizing the woman by the body and throwing her to the ground at an address in the town on December 26 last year.

The 33-year-old is further alleged to have behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards her by shouting and swearing.

Wade, of Murray Street, has pleaded not guilty to the two charges and is set for trial on March 4, with a further preliminary calling of the case scheduled for on February 6.
