INVERCLYDE is set to be buffeted by strong winds this weekend with a yellow weather warning issued by forecasters.
The Met Office initially put an alert in place for wind from 6am this Sunday until midnight, but this has now been extended until 6am on Monday morning.
They are warning that a period of strong winds may bring disruption to travel and utilities.
The weather service says road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected by the bad weather.
There is also a slight chance that power cuts may occur and of 'injuries and danger to life from large waves and beach material being thrown onto seafronts, coastal roads and properties'.
Locals are also being advised about a small risk of injury posed by flying debris and the chance that some roads and bridges will close.
