YOUNG performers are gearing up to spread some magic with their production of Alice in Wonderland at the Beacon this weekend.
Clyde Youth Theatre have been rehearsing since last January to take the audience down a rabbit hole on a journey of adventure.
The show features all the famous characters, from Alice herself to the white rabbit, the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, the doormouse and Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee from Lewis Carroll's much-loved classic.
Co-producer Laura Given said: "We took some suggestions from the children, we wanted their input and we thought it was an opportunity to so something really magical with the costumes and characters, it was huge production, we had a full year to prepare."
The theatre group is open to five to 16-year-olds and the cast have thrown themselves into rehearsals.
Laura said: "They have loved it, we have so many children who are up on stage singing solo who have never been on the stage before. They were really shy when they walked in the door, it has built up their confidence immensely."
Laura took over Clyde Youth Theatre with Abby Wilson back in August 2022. The pair had been members of the group for six years before that.
She said: "We are so proud of the children and how hard they have worked and how they've grown and developed."
A total of 23 children are taking part in the show, which runs on Saturday at 5.30pm and Sunday at 2pm.
