A MURDER bid accused Port Glasgow man has been locked up after appearing in court charged with carrying out an alleged life-threatening knife attack.
Michael Doherty, 43, is accused of repeatedly striking a man on the head and body with a blade or similar implement to the danger of his life.
The Crown claims that he assaulted the man at a flat on Teviot Road in the Port last Friday.
Doherty, of Westray Avenue, is said to have left the alleged victim severely injured, with the charge claiming that he 'did attempt to murder him'.
He appeared on petition for a private hearing at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday and was remanded in custody after making no plea.
The case has been continued for further examination, with Doherty due to appear again on the matter next week.
