POLICE are hunting 'a group of youths' after two teenage boys were taken to hospital with serious injuries following a disturbance in Greenock.

The teens, aged 16 and 17, were rushed to Inverclyde Royal on Thursday afternoon after an incident within the car park area of Greenock Sports Centre on Nelson Street at around 2.30pm.

The teenagers are said to have sustained serious injuries but they were released from hospital following treatment.

Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: “Our enquiries so far indicate that a group of youths were seen in the area at the time and they left the car park in the direction of the town centre.

“We are keen to speak to them or anyone else who may be able to help with our investigation into this incident.

“We believe several members of the public may have seen what happened and we are asking them to come forward.”
