INFAMOUS Ferguson Marine ferry Glen Sannox is on track to begin sea trials next week with the first phase of quayside preparation getting under way earlier today.

The overdue and overbudget vessel is finally set to make her first trip under her own propulsion next Tuesday, weather permitting, with longer journeys planned for later in the week.

Thanks to calm waters today, the yard started harbourside tests in order to get her ship-shape for next week's journey.

A spokesperson for Ferguson Marine Port Glasgow confirmed the initial test had gone ahead as planned.

They said: “Our delivery director and trials team are pleased with progress so far, and the weather forecast for Tuesday looks promising.”
