MAZDA this week announced an updated MX-5 roadster and RF (retractable fastback).

Arriving from Japan next month, features of the latest MX-5 range include new front and rear lights, a revised limited slip differential on 2.0 models which is claimed to boost stability, and a new instrument panel and larger touchscreen.

Last week marked the 35th anniversary of the MX-5’s unveiling at the 1989 Chicago Motor Show.

More than 1,256,700 examples have been produced over four generations.

Mazda UK managing director Jeremy Thomson said: “When it comes to driver engagement, the current generation MX-5 has established itself as a benchmark sports car, and with the 2024 Mazda MX-5 we continue to offer one of the most exciting and satisfying to drive cars money can buy.”

The latest range costs from £28,000 for the 1.5 Prime-Line roadster to £37,000 for the 2.0 Homura RF.
