THE Beacon Arts Centre has unveiled its new programme for the first half of the year - featuring a packed schedule of theatre, comedy, music and art.

Well-known faces from stage, sport and screen join cutting-edge drama, classical and pop music on the schedule, alongside an exciting programme designed especially for younger audiences.

One of the highlights will be 90s icon Caroline Rhea bringing a sprinkling of magic to the stage, as she takes her show, I identify as a witch, to Inverclyde.

Greenock Telegraph:

Lesley Davidson, co-director of the Beacon, said: “We strive to bring affordable, high-quality shows to the people of Inverclyde and beyond and are proud of the range and quality of our shows."

The line-up also includes controversial comic Jerry Sadowitz, who will come to the Beacon on March 9, with audiences warned to brace themselves for a night of outrageous and close-to-the-edge comedy.

Greenock Telegraph:

Famous Scottish stand up Frankie Boyle will also bring his unique blend of humour in his sold out Lap of Shame show.

They’ll be joined by Bafta-award winning Scottish comedian Jack Docherty, who will bring his critically acclaimed 'David Bowie & Me - Parallel Lives' production to audiences in Greenock in May.

Game of Thrones Star James Cosmo, Sir Bradley Wiggins and Gail Porter are all booked to spill behind the scenes secrets from their careers too, while Rangers’ legends Mark Walters, Terry Butcher and Graham Roberts will share stories from their time in football.

The Beacon will bring the magic of the arts to young audiences with an inventive and fun series of shows designed especially for children.

It includes a stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book, a musical version of the three little pigs and a sing-along space adventure with stars of children's stage and screen, The McDougalls, as well as toe tapping hits with Pop Divas Live for older children.

The 'Amazing Bubble Man', Louis Pearl is set to thrill young audiences with a blend of art, magic and science. The Edinburgh Fringe favourite will hit the stage at the Beacon in July with a show promising to wow with bubble tricks and comedy.

Ms Davidson added: "With everything from classes and exhibitions, laughter and thought-provoking theatre, Beacon is opening doors to the magic of the arts for all.”
