A LARGE CalMac ferry which had been at a Greenock drydock for her annual overhaul is now set to undergo £5m worth of maintenance over the next four months in England.
MV Caledonian Isles, which usually covers the Arran-Ardrossan route, had been at Dales Marine since early January.
She was due to return to service weeks later, but a need for extensive repairs was identified.
She recently went south to the Cammell Laird yard in Birkenhead - and it has now been confirmed she will need 16 weeks of extensive steel repair work there before returning to service in June.
A spokesperson for CalMac said the 31-year-old vessel was moved due to dock availability, and resources needed to support the repairs required.
