KIND pupils from Cedars School joined up with Smiths in Greenock to donate PE kits and jumpers to children in Africa.

The partnership is in support of the charity Aid for Education, based in Rwamagana in Rwanda and set up by Greenock couple Douglas and Sarah Kakooza.

It is helping to change the lives of hundreds of children by providing education, basic medical care and shelter.

Aid for Education runs its own nursery and primary school, as well as sponsoring pupils to attend schools in their local area.

Cedars head teacher Emma Rukin said: "On a school trip to Rwanda in 2016 pupils from Cedars helped to build a classroom and taught some lessons.

"When we developed a new PE kit last year, we wanted to use our old stock to support the school in Rwanda.

"I approached Keith Wilson at Smiths, who have supplied our uniform since 1999, and they were delighted to partner with Cedars to support this venture.

"Douglas will go out to Rwanda later this year, and pupils from Cedars will supply spare suitcases to help to pack the polo shirts and jumpers ready to go to pupils in the school in Rwanda."
