THE number of people who passed away across Inverclyde in the last quarter of 2023 reached almost 300.
Data released by National Records of Scotland shows that a total of 297 people died in the district between October 1 and December 31 last year.
Of that number, 152 were women, and 145 were men.
The highest number of deaths recorded (58) was in the males aged 75-84 cohort.
Across Scotland as a whole, 15,739 people died during the same time period, the number comprising 7,955 women and 7,784 men.
