A HEARING over claims that an elected member from Inverclyde breached the Code of Conduct for Councillors has been pushed back.

The Standards Commission for Scotland have confirmed that SNP councillor Innes Nelson will appear before the watchdog at 9.30am on April 10 at the Municipal Buildings in Greenock.

The hearing was originally scheduled for March 13.

No reason has been given for the change.

Councillor Nelson backed a recommendation to impose a 270-home cap on the number of houses which could be built on the former IBM site in Greenock at a planning board meeting in March 2022, which the site owners said would make the project unviable.

He is accused of contravening three parts of the code by not revealing his property nearby and his previously expressed concerns about development on the site.
