INVERCLYDE residents are being urged to ensure they have adequate amounts of prescribed medication to last them over upcoming spring holidays.

Staff at NHS 24 have issued the plea ahead of the Easter weekend and May bank holidays.

The service, which manages calls to 111, often receives enquiries regarding prescribed medication from patients when their GP or local pharmacy is closed.

Dr John McAnaw, head of pharmacy at NHS 24, said: “The Easter weekend falls quite early this year, so my advice is to take some time now to check how much of your medication you have.

“If you need more to cover the holidays, bear in mind that your GP and pharmacy will need time to process your request so order in plenty of time and remember to pick your ordered prescription up.”

This year, Good Friday falls on March 29, followed by Easter Monday on April 1. Bank holidays will also take place on May 6 and 27.
