A PORT Glasgow theft accused man tried to bite a supermarket worker after helping himself to an array of merchandise, it is alleged.
Andrew Derrick, 29, is said to have stolen a quantity of clothing, toys, candles, perfume and toiletries from Greenock Tesco on March 11.
Prosecutors say he also assaulted a man acting in the course of his employment by repeatedly pushing him and attempting to bite him on the body.
Derrick, of Arran Avenue in the Port, pleaded not guilty to the charges through defence solicitor Amy Spencer.
He was remanded in custody by Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill after a fiscal depute warned of a ‘substantial’ risk of reoffending.
Derrick is due to stand trial at Greenock Sheriff Court on April 8.
