DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a number of car-related incidents which took place in Greenock earlier this week.

Police received reports of three vehicles being deliberately set on fire, the theft of a car, and items being taken from unsecured vehicles, all within the Bow Farm and west end areas of the town.

A 24-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incidents and was due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, March 26.

Police have confirmed enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incidents, and they're now seeking help from the public in tracing a second man who was seen in the area at the same time.

The incidents took place in the Paton Street, Tasker Street, Forsyth Street, Robertson Street, Brisbane Street, and South Street areas between 10pm on Monday, March 25, and 7am on Tuesday, March 26.

Detective Constable Ruth Elder said: "We are appealing for anyone in the west end or Bow Farm areas of Greenock who may have witnessed any suspicious activity to please get in touch.

"In particular, we would like to hear from people with private CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell camera footage which could be of significance to our investigation."

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0424 of Tuesday, March 26, or speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
