TELEGRAPH reporter Claire Amber Young and I met up with budding gardeners of Wellpark Children's Centre when they joined forces with Inverclyde Community Food Network to build a garden of their own. The kids are looking forward to enjoying the fruits of their labours come summertime.

I took the picture below as a large number of local carers told of their fears for the future of Inverclyde Carer's Centre. The vital service is under threat after losing its £1.5m contract to another organisation based outside Inverclyde.

Operators of the familiar blue buses seen around our community are appealing for more volunteer drivers to join their ranks. The Inverclyde Voluntary Council of Social Services takes children with complex physical and additional support needs to Craigmarloch School from points across Inverclyde. Gourock has, at last, seen the return of a reliable Post Office service to Kempock Street with the opening of a purpose-built shop.  In addittion to selling stationery and an exclusive line of confectionary, owner Christopher Allan and branch manager Jenna Campbell will be focussing the business on postal drop-offs, banking and travel.
