THE Greenock drugs gang led by kingpin Lee Docherty who flooded Inverclyde with heroin and cocaine have been sentenced to a total of more than 31 years imprisonment at the High Court in Glasgow this morning.

Docherty, 37, received an eight-year sentence, while his brother-in-law Ian Millar, 39, was given six years.

Accomplice Brendan Gillan, 32, has been jailed for six years; Gillan's father, Daniel, 60, received a sentence of six years and four months and co-accused Christopher McKellar, 44, was given five years and four months.

Docherty and Millar have also been given a five-year serious crime prevention order, with Brendan Gillan receiving a three-year order.

The gang controlled a well-established network of low-level dealers and produced, purchased and sold class A, B and C substances for mass profits.

Docherty was described in court as the ‘principal of the OCG (organised crime group) orchestrated by him’.

The other gang members ‘answered to him’ and he was involved in ‘all aspects’ of the operation, the court heard.
