GREENOCK-BASED bus firm McGill’s has received nine nominations across six categories at the upcoming Scottish Transport Awards.

The event brings the members of Scotland’s transport community together to recognise and celebrate achievements within the industry.

Two McGill’s routes are nominated in the Best Bus Service category – the local ClydeFlyer and Unilink in Stirling.

The firm is also shortlisted for the Contribution to Sustainable Transport prize for its efforts to bring more electric buses to depots in Greenock, Johnstone and Inchinnan.

McGill’s drivers Kary-Ann McGregor and Mohammad Ramzan are nominated in the Frontline Employee of the Year category, as well as network support officer Kian Greene.

And the company will also contest the Excellence in Travel Information and Marketing, Excellence in Transport Accessibility and Public Transport Operator of the Year awards.

Alex Hornby, group managing director, said: “The nine nominations for McGill’s Bus Group across six categories at the Scottish Transport Awards highlight the outstanding work that our team and our company are delivering for passengers across the country.

“We remain highly motivated to do our best for customers and communities and will not rest on our laurels despite the challenges around us.

“To be shortlisted again for Public Transport Operator of the Year – an award we won in 2022 and finished runner-up in last year, highlighting us as Best Bus Operator – is further evidence of the extremely high standards we are setting and maintaining against some tough competition across the transport sector.

“I’m also thrilled for Kary-Ann, Kian and Mohammad and to see them gain deserving nominations for Frontline Employee of the Year.

“They are highly valued colleagues and typify the great service that our drivers and our other support colleagues across Scotland provide on a daily basis.

"We look forward to the awards and wish our team the best of luck.”
