A GREENOCK couple threatened a man and woman with a metal pole and a baseball during a homophobic disturbance, it is alleged.

Sean McCluskey and Demi Gallagher targeted the alleged victims with abuse and threats of violence, prosecutors say.

McCluskey, 33, and Gallagher, 31, both of Kings Glen Place in Greenock, are said to have committed the alleged offences at their home on November 10 last year.

McCluskey is accused of presenting a metal pole to a man, shouting, swearing and directing homophobic remarks towards him.

Co-accused Gallagher is charged with presenting a baseball bat to a woman and uttering threats of violence.

The pair have pleaded not guilty through lawyers Aidan Gallagher and Gerry Keenan at the sheriff court.

Matters are due to call again on July 16, ahead of a trial scheduled for August 8.
