FORMER Inverclyde Provost Allan Robertson recently retired after being honorary president of Inverclyde and District Battalion Boys’ Brigade for more than 20 years.
The battalion expressed appreciation of Allan’s service and support by giving him a quaich.
Colonel Peter McCarthy, Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, is shown presenting Allan with the quaich at the battalion’s parade and service held last month in Port Glasgow.
I am currently running a series of stories looking back at what was in the news locally 30 years ago.
Last month’s article relating to March, 1994, described the centenary celebrations of the former Ist Port Glasgow BB Company.
The centenary fell while Allan was Provost and he was one of the company’s ‘old boys’ invited to a dinner attended by more than 300 in Port Glasgow Town Hall.
